Wattana’s Land – From where has the invaluable inheritance come?
Excerpt from a book “Legacy Land”
| 1910/2455 |
When Miss Cole realized that school area at Wanglang could
no longer be expanded in the same area, she began to look around
for a new, bigger piece of land. She found the land in Bangkapi
field, which was rice field near Phra Artvidhyakom’s land. |
| 1914/2459 |
Miss Cole agreed to buy that piece of land. She let the north part, on the bank of Saen Saeb Canal to a Chinese vegetable gardener. The rent was used as the school’s expense. In the following years she bought many plots of adjacent land. |
| 1915/2460 |
Miss Cole bought the land title deed number 2611 from damsel
Phug, for 15 rai - 1 ngan – 9 square wah, next to the previous
plot with title deed number 2594. |
| 1921/2463 |
Miss Cole took a part of teachers and pupils from Wanglang
Girls School to the new place, naming it Wattana Wittaya Academy.
|
| 1923/2466 |
Before returning home to the USA this year, Miss Cole had
contacted to buy another three plots of land adjacent to the
existing plot. Miss Blount was the next school Principal and
finished off the task. |
| 1925/2468 |
Wanglang Girls School sold the land to Prince Mahidol, to
be used as nurse dormitory for Siriraj Hospital. Part of the
money received was used to buy land for Wattana Wittaya Academy
to expand the school boundary. |
| 1927/2470 |
Miss Blount bought another two plots of land. |
From 1914 to 1927 both Principals had compiled lands for Wattana Wittaya Academy for the total of 90 rai-2 ngan-97 square wah. Within this quantity, 17 rai-2 ngan was the inheritance that Phra Artvidhyakom donated in memorial of his wife.
